Relationships - Who needs them?

Relationships have become more exhausting than exhilarating. Is it just me? When I'm single, I'm prowling for my love. It's costly to my sanity and to my wallet, trying to determine if she likes me—then doing things to make her like me more (and get naked). When I'm in a relationship, I'm juggling texts, dates, her family gatherings, and baseball, doing my best to avoid disappointing my lover.

Is it better to be married or single?

Do you wonder what life would be like on the other side? When married, how peaceful single life could be. When single, how marriage might cure loneliness. Having been on both sides, I'm unsure which is better. There are great parts of both.

Either way, you'll relate to these essays.

Whether you're male, female, or something in between; whether you're eighteen or eighty or something in between—you're going to relate to the following pages in some way. I guarantee it. I also guarantee I will push your buttons. I'll make you giggle and piss you off. That's intentional. I just hope you're entertained by my relationship disasters. Heck, maybe my mistakes will save you from a similar fate (another pet).

Let's drink, drink, and be single.

Enjoy the ride, my friends. If you ever see me at my office (a bar), put a hand on my shoulder, share a frosty beverage, and let's steer each other away from the dangerous cliffs of love.

Nice Guy Unfinished edition by Phil Torcivia Vanessa Mendozzi Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

The previous reviews were so positive, I was confident I would enjoy the humor in this book. What a disappointment when I started reading. The writing is good, but the essays just weren't very funny. Forget about "laugh out loud", the best parts earned a smile, the rest a yawn. I didn't find the author's point of view particularly insightful either.

I read 600 books a year, and generally finish every book I start. This Unlimited selection is going to be returned with only 12% read.
Yeah... No... Thank God this was free because it's not even a dime. This is like some pretty awful attempt of stand up comedy put into a book where the author tries to make jokes about relationships, men, women, etc... But doesn't make you laugh
This book was very entertaining! If you are easily offended it may not be for you, because of some of the crude language.
One may think this book is for men, but as a woman I would have to say it was a great book.
It wakes you up to how men and women truly feel about life and relationships. I also really enjoyed the honesty.
The book kind of reminds me of a better more honest version of 'He's Just Not That Into You'
I approached this book with an open mind. Fully expecting to laugh (a little), groan (a lot), and probably be annoyed and/or offended by the end - assuming I made it that far, of course...

So imagine my surprise when I laughed far more than I should probably admit here publicly, and groaned far less than I expected. By the end, I was ... wishing for more, and not offended in the least. Now that I think about it, I am not sure whether that is high praise for the book, or cause for me to do some soul-searching to try and figure out when I gave up all hope of finding a real relationship...

Nice Guy Unfinished is very well written, and hard to put down. It is definitely not for the easily offended, but those folks are probably all at home on this Valentine's Day, reveling in their marital bliss, and laughing at the rest of us out here trying to find our way in this messy, cynical, narcissistic world.

But enough words - time for me to take and post a selfie of me reading this book. Please like my review, so I can revel in the praise and adulation of the unwashed internet masses. I, too, want to feel the love and acceptance that can only come from random strangers. And then, with my self-confidence restored, maybe I can be one of those sitting at home with my true love next Valentine's Day, blissfully unaware of the struggles out here on the mean streets of single-dom. And it will all be because of you, fellow customer, and your likes, and your affirmations...

Or better yet - just read the book. You'll thank me.
I covered the book with brown paper, like I did my textbooks from school. I wasn't sure if I wanted to admit that I was reading Nice Guy Unfinished. If anyone noticed me as I read the book, I feigned serious interest with various facial expressions and shook my head. The Nice Guy is such a man. He pissed me off many times, and admittedly, I did laugh at his foibles. It all continued until I got to the last few pages, when I felt a pang for him, at least a little for a few minutes.
How is it that the Nice Guy who is stupid, insensitive, mindless, thoughtless, ignorant, witless, oafish, boorish, asinine, coarse, gross, graceless, tasteless, tactless, and any other words that are synonyms for the word crass, still makes some women want to wait in line for their turn with him, so that they can write their initials in the ladies' room under the graffiti "I did it with the Nice Guy?" (it wasn't so bad)
Thanks, Phil for the opportunity to let me have some of the first hisses, spits, and giggles for Nice Guy Unfinished.
Cynical, irreverent and very funny revelations from a single guy who hasn’t quite yet determined if relationships “have become more exhausting than exhilarating.” If you’re the uber-sensitive, easily offended type – regardless of your gender – you may want to scurry on your way, now. Ditto if you can’t laugh at yourself, if you cringe at “gross-guy talk” or if you think this is an instructional manual for finding your soul mate. It’s not. It is, however, a humorous and honest attempt on his part to provide a few dos and don’ts for singles that he’s learned to recognize after 40-plus years of dating.

He’s not a fan of those who would profess they ‘shoulda coulda woulda’ done anything differently in their lives; selfie-obsessed individuals; people sharing photos of what they’re eating; filtered, fake reactions of those giving their public opinion (who asked ya?); those purposely looking for the next thing to be offended about; and sugar-coated first impressions (although he admits to being guilty of saying please and thank you when he’d rather tell someone to kiss off).

He enlightens the female persuasion about what creeps men out and, in all fairness, he knows – and is spot on – when admitting those things that men do that creep women out as well. He’s been there, done that.

Whether guys have been single for years, or are “just finding their nests vacant,” Torcivia offers some amusing tips, including suggestions for treading the rough, hygiene-and-wardrobe waters. I only wish I had not been drinking coffee while reading this hysterical book. What a hot mess…

I’ve been married for an eternity, and still found this book funny and entertaining. Torcivia is no sheep (and he doesn’t mince words) but I sense he may be a softy dressed in wolves' clothing. I think he’s just a nice guy unfinished.
